Aedes mosquitoes are common in California. They are known as aggressive biters and often feed on humans. These mosquitoes can transmit dengue, yellow fever, and chikungunya. Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs in areas that will eventually fill with water. The eggs are resistant to drying out and can hatch after a conditioning period.
Two notable species are Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Aedes aegypti, or the yellow fever mosquito, thrives in urban areas and can breed in small water containers. Aedes albopictus, the Asian tiger mosquito, also breeds in small containers and is recognizable by its black body and white stripes. Both species are active during the daytime, near dawn, and dusk.
Anopheles mosquitoes are a key focus of our mosquito control efforts. These mosquitoes lay their eggs on the water’s surface, often in areas with heavy vegetation or algal mats. The eggs are boat-shaped and have lateral floats. Unlike other mosquitoes, Anopheles larvae do not have a siphon and lie parallel to the water surface. Adults rest with their bodies in a straight line, angled or perpendicular to the surface. These mosquitoes are the only known carriers of malaria.
In California, five species of Anopheles mosquitoes are prevalent, particularly in vegetated pools, algal mats, and agricultural areas. These mosquitoes, known for their biting activity at dawn, dusk, and after dark, pose a significant threat. Effective control measures are imperative to curb their population and halt the spread of malaria.
Culiseta mosquitoes are commonly found in California. They lay their eggs on water surfaces, where the eggs stick together to form a raft. The larvae hang downward at a 45-degree angle from the water surface. Adult Culiseta mosquitoes have a bluntly rounded abdomen. Some species are known to bite severely.
Four species of Culiseta mosquitoes are present in California. These mosquitoes are less likely to be aggressive biters compared to other types. However, they can still be a nuisance and pose a health risk. Our mosquito control treatments effectively reduce the population of Culiseta mosquitoes, ensuring a safer and more comfortable environment for you and your family.
Culex mosquitoes are common in California and are known to transmit diseases such as West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis, and Western equine encephalitis. They are primarily active at dawn, dusk, and after dark. These mosquitoes lay their eggs on the water, forming a raft-like structure. You will often find Culex mosquitoes near ponds, vegetated pools, and agricultural areas.
Adult Culex mosquitoes are light brown with a light-colored band around their proboscis. They have a bluntly rounded abdomen and prefer to bite during the night. Effective control of Culex mosquitoes involves removing standing water and using treatments to reduce their population.
Our initial mosquito treatment starts with a thorough inspection of your yard. Our experts will look for areas where mosquitoes breed, such as standing water and overgrown vegetation. Before we arrive, please clean up your yard and remove any standing water. This helps us treat your yard more effectively.
The treatment process takes about 30 minutes, though this can vary based on the size of your yard. We use fogging and the In2Care system to reduce the mosquito population. Our methods are safe for children and pets. The In2Care system works after we leave, preventing mosquitoes from breeding and spreading in your yard.
Our ongoing mosquito control service ensures your yard stays mosquito-free. Each monthly treatment takes about 30 minutes, depending on the size of your yard. We recommend clearing your yard of standing water before we arrive. Our treatments are safe for kids and pets, so your family can enjoy the outdoors without worry.
We use the In2Care system to provide continuous protection. This system targets mosquito breeding sites and reduces the population over time. Monthly fogging creates a barrier that stops mosquitoes from nearby properties. Our experts will also identify areas in your yard that could attract mosquitoes and suggest simple solutions to keep them away. Our treatments remain effective even after rainfall, ensuring your yard is always protected.
We’re here for Santee and its neighbors. Our team works hard to keep homes and businesses free from pests. We care deeply about these communities and always aim to give great service and results.
